A Guide to Patriotic Décor for Your Home or Office

For showing your civic pride, nothing works better than decorating with the colors of the flag. There are several kinds of 4th of July decorations available to dress your home or office, inside or out, for patriotic holidays. But do you know the difference between pleated fans, bunting, pull down banners, and bows?

Pleated fans are a length of fabric that’s been pleated to drape gracefully in a half circle. Look for something with real pleating – this makes them easy to pleat back up for wrinkle-free storage, year after year.  They look beautiful on balconies, porch railings, and podiums.

Bunting and pull down banners are long ribbons of fabric available in assorted widths. Bunting is sold by the yard, while banners are sold by the piece. Bunting can be gathered at intervals along a stage or up a staircase, wrapped around poles or columns, or hung in long swags from the ceiling. Pull down banners are similar to bunting but are finished with grommets at the top and look stunning in windows or on doors.

Bows look terrific on doors, along a length of bunting, or hung from balusters along a fence. Find them in four or six loop styles. The fuller bows ones are great for a single focal point and smaller styles are best for repeated motifs.
Fabrics are especially important for your 4th of July decorations. For long-term outdoor use, look for
nylon fabrics that have been treated to resist UV fading. For indoor events, a cotton-blend has a
beautiful drape and richness. Look for buntings that have been sewn together of different colored
fabrics, rather than printed.  The patterns will be crisper and last longer.

Get to know the different kinds of decorations available to make a good investment in your patriotic
celebrations, show your patriotism by looking for products from Independence Bunting, all made in the USA, and your 4th of July decorations will wow for years to come.

Celebrate with Patriotic Bunting

Independence Day is the perfect time to show your patriotic spirit, and using red, white, and blue bunting is an excellent material to let your creativity explode. Bunting refers to fabric that is decorated with national colors. Certainly celebrations on the 4th of July would not be complete without the red, white and blue.

Summertime means events are headed outdoors, as you are nearly guaranteed sunny skies. If you’re planning a neighborhood extravaganza, or just a barbecue with family and friends, you can use it in diverse ways to set the tone.

Bunting ribbons come in a variety of sizes so they can be used for bedecking a variety of items. Starting with the basics, you can decorate tables with the stars and stripes by using a wide piece as a long table runner. Or, you could cut individual pieces to create placemats.

Thinner ribbon could be used for the place settings, themselves. Wrap the silverware in the napkins, and then tie it all together with the ribbon. Add some garnish to individual cups, wrapping them in a swath of ribbon as well.

Banners can add another layer of color to your yard. Using patriotic bunting, cut out rectangular strips or triangles, then attach them to some string.  Hang them between trees or along the fence line to create a border.

Fabric fans with stars, stripes, or both, are made to drape across railings, and could look charming attached to a deck. Welcome guests with some draped across your gate or front porch.

Unlike other seasonal décor, patriotic designs can be used year-round. You can hang it up for Memorial Day, Labor Day or Veterans’ Day, or any other time you feel it is appropriate.

Using patriotic bunting is a quick and easy way to embellish your Independence Day celebration while showing your love of country. It comes in different styles and sizes so you can use it just about anywhere and on anything.
